Onoway Weekend

On Saturday we had 10 participants and a handful of auditors in the Horsemanship and Obstacle Clinic with Lavern Schmidt. We provided the most diverse group Lavern has taught to date... we had mules, mini donkeys, mini horses, and full size horses. We also had participants from 6-50+ years old! Everyone walked away with extra knowledge and practice under their belts.

On Sunday we had our fun show. We continued with diversity as our theme and had 30 participants and their various equines. We had first timers and very experienced folks join in. There were long ear only classes, as well as we acknowledged the top long ear in the open classes. The long ears dominated trail! A Ukrainian refugee arrived on the Schmidt farm that morning, and it turns out she is a photographer and she was excited to catch some of our day. Click here to see her photos!

We are very thankful for the Schmidt family at Sunwest Equine for the terrific weekend. Thank you to all who volunteered and helped out- this couldn't happen without you!

Nutrition and Feeding
With the green grass here there is no better time the to look into what our long ears should be eating. A big reminder that our long ears are much more efficient with their food, and therefore prone to obesity and the problems that come along with them like foundering. Dr. Amy Mclean has some great information for us. Click here to see it!

Saddle Up

Our club enters a monthly article in this great magazine. Remember to check it out (it is free online) If you have a story you would like to share about your long ears please email and we will get it published.
